I acknowledge that much of the pressure to look young stems from the media trying to sell us products we don't need and its fueling this idea. However I attribute some of the visible signs of premature aging to the use of vapes among our generation. I mean the increase in popularity of e-cigarettes was primarily because of teenagers which is older Gen Z. And while I dont think we are aging like milk I do think it's had lasting effects.
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard anyone I know talking about this. I doubt that we are aging any differently than other generations. I think we are obsessed with our looks, yes, at least many of us--both men and women--, due to social media, and I think a lot of us are scared of growing up, but I don't think that's anything specific to our generation.
ReplyDeleteWell, speaking as someone a great deal older than social media I can tell you: young people have always been obsessed with their looks, and with how they imagine they're being perceived by others. It's just that with social media, this obsession becomes a shared experience. You'd have thought that might make it less isolating, less a source of personal unhappiness. Evidently not.
