As you progress into adulthood you have way more responsibilities, this is why I think it's important to take time for yourself to relax or do things you like so that you don't become completely engrossed in 'adult life' and can maintain your 'real' self .

    1. James wrote Principles of Psychology to answer how life brings about the rise of human consciousness.
    2. Kaag quotes Aristotle "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence is not an act. It is a habit." in reference to human's obsession with the word habit.
    3. James says that young people would become more aware of their actions and creation of habit is they realized that they would soon become a walking bundle of habits.
    4. James complained in 1884 that his teaching duties devoured his time, and he felt like he gained little from teaching especially intellectually.
    5. James thought "Everybody should do at least two things that he hates to do, just for practice".
    6. Habit is "the enormous fly-wheel of society" because is encourages consistency and facilitates social norms that keep humans alive. An example that was given was a fisherman still fishing during cold winters this allows the fisherman's family to have an income, the consumer to have a meal, and for the economy to remain stable.
    7. "There is no more miserable human being than one in whom nothing is habitual but indecision".
    8. "There is no more contemptible type of human character than that of the nerveless sentimentalist and dreamer, who spends his life in a weltering sea of sensibility and emotion, but who never does a manly concrete deed."
Comment: I have created the habit of putting effort into my appearance/outfit everyday because I am more productive and confident when I look put together.
