“When the last great Scorer comes to mark against your name, it's not whether you win or lose, it's how you played the game." I think that is a subtly excellent point that a lot of humans have missed about life. Of course in general, but I want to focus on how that idea has been missed in our consumer oriented culture. Regular people and people in power have become caught up in the notion that possessing as much wealth and material goods as possible means they will "win" at life. And as that quote points out, life is not about winning - it is about how you use your time that you are alive. I am not saying that someone would then "win" if they spent their time appropriately. Or that there is any concentration that is better than others to fixate one's life to, if anything I am saying the way to live correctly is to cause the LEAST amount of harm to others (can't make everyone happy all the time). Having our culture fixated on simply consuming everything they possibly can has not only hurt our social wellbeing but also slowed our progress as a species. All in all, I believe that if the concept of bettering one's self in a healthy manner AND furthering the positive development of humankind/community with humane actions were deeply rooted in our culture then our world would be a better place to live.

I think the idea of it not mattering if you win or lose, but how you play is a very simple, yet unknown concept to us. You mentioned the great scorer being God and I was brought back to an experience I had early this year. My mom is a huge fan of the christian music duo 'For King and Country', so for her birthday I got her tickets to see their concert. While we were queued, a lady was looking fown on us for not having v.i.p. tickets,,, to the CHRISTIAN music concert. She obviously 'won' the game when it comes to wealth but she was not being humble or kind about it. She wasn't being a good sport. Things like this matter to people. She probably won't remember us, but her bad sportsmanship has left an impact on my mom and I.
