Bob Gibson

Bob Gibson was my favorite player, and most important early teacher: I read his autobiography "From Ghetto to Glory" at about age 10, then "Autobiography of Malcolm X." Sports isn't pure fantasy. https://t.co/OplfpkMSkw

  1. A loss of a great pitcher. My team was on the receiving end of some of his games, but you could not help but admire his ferocity, determination, and competitiveness. I some times marvel how players on opposite team will gather together after the game is over and chat amiably. I remember those days when they hated each other. In some ways, I prefer the style of Jeter, that you give it all while you're playing, but when it's over you treat your opponent with respect. Jeter's farewell at Red Sox stadium is one that told me how great he was and how much his opponents appreciate him.
