With A.I., Dr. Amodei added, our bodies for the first time will become entirely malleable. Freedom from disease is merely the start. There’s also biological freedom. This, he said, is:
“the idea that everyone should be empowered to choose what they want to become and live their lives in the way that most appeals to them.”
In essence, A.I. will allow you to sculpt yourself into something else — to become, for lack of a better word, hot.
For instance, A.I.-accelerated biology will allow control over weight, physical appearance, reproduction and other biological processes, he wrote. Personalities will become tractable too. Diseases like PTSD, depression, schizophrenia and addiction will be effectively treated for the first time…”

ReplyDeleteHonestly I have trouble believing a lot of these far fetched ideas of how AI will change society. I'm not saying it will not drastically change things; it will, and it is. Nor is it a fad that will die out just like how the cell phone died out and we all went back to corded phones. The concept of having the entirety of our genetics and biological processes micro-managed by genetic engineering and internal or external synthetic systems is rediculous exaggeration designed to excite investors. Some of these proclamations about our great future with AI name innovations that AI will likely not really be the main driving force behind. It's just a buzzword tossed into anything said nowadays to make it feel exciting and relevant. As it is right now, and as I suspect it will remain for the next few years, AI is a computing tool that streamlines and makes easier a lot of different repetative tasks that were previously too abstract for tradishional computing.
