My friends have always meant the world to me. I still keep in touch with one from elementary school, but the others have faded into memories. I like this quote, because it reminds me of how lucky I am to have the friends that I do. However, I also know that you cant keep people in your life. People change, move away, and grow up. When I was younger, I thought those elementary friends would be around me until we were old and grey. Marx's idea is a good one, but not always possible.

H1 Summary of my Marx Presentation today:
We had gotten around to talking about Marx's concept of a Vanguard party, which he had theorized about but was developed and put into practice by Lenin. A concept which looks familiar to fascist movements that arose in the 20th century, the key similarity being that it deals with a cult of personality. The idea of the Vanguard party is that those who had the most "class conscientiousness" were put to rule to protect the revolution. Marx's thinking is also a product of its time, being determinist in that there will be a revolution. As well as calling back to ancient philosophers like Plato, but framed it in a different light. We had also talked about how fascism and marxism/socialism differ. They are both responses to capitalism, but the first cares mainly for authority while the other cares mainly for economics.

Usually, I am not fond of the words and actions of Karl Marx, but I do have to say that I think this is a really nice quote. I think it is important to surround yourself with people who support you and radiate positivity. I think that having people around you like this can honestly make such a difference. These are the people in your life that are most definitely going to make a difference overall.

(H03) I think this is wonderful advice. Community is an extremely important part of living a good life, because it simply is a part of human nature. I think what this quote is really speaking on the importance of having a strong community surronding you through out your life.

I think having good friends is nearly essential to happiness. Without other people, you are trapped in your own thoughts. Also, having good friends is more important than having a numerous amount of friends.

The author of "William James's Springs of Delight: The Return to Life, (VU Press, 2001) " Phil Oliver specializes in the American philosophical tradition with supporting interests in applied ethics (particularly Bioethics and Environmental Ethics), Anglo-American literature, history, humanism, naturalism, science and exploration, peripatetic ("walking & talking") philosophy, baseball, cycling, swimming, the pursuit of happiness, and the perpetual dawn of day. Admirable profession

A proper education
